Brand new in KBLI 2025 (BPS_ONLY). In KBLI 2020, spa activities were covered under broader wellness/personal care codes. The 2025 classification recognizes spa specifically. Given Indonesia's (and especially Bali's) spa industry prominence, this dedicated code was overdue.
Bali Intelligence
Bali is globally famous for spas. From high-end resort spas in Nusa Dua to IDR 100k massage places in Kuta, the spa industry is a tourism pillar. The 2025 code 96230 finally gives spas their own classification. Since it's BPS_ONLY (no PP28 licensing data yet), the detailed requirements are pending. However, existing spa operations in Bali typically need: Tanda Daftar Usaha Pariwisata (TDUP), health and hygiene certification, trained therapists with competency certificates, and compliance with spa standards (SNI). Ubud and Seminyak command the highest prices. Day spas versus hotel spas have very different business models — day spas are more accessible for smaller investors.
